Zombies!

It was a typical winter drive home from pizza that fateful night. We were nearly to camp when suddenly, out of nowhere, the Alpha Zombie leapt down in front of our car. Andrew Prout swerved to avoid him and lost control, running up a snowbank. Frantically, we jumped out and tried to heave the car free, hearing the rest of the horde approaching. The car slowly freed itself inches at a time, to our dismay. Just when we were nearly back on the road, James Matthew Bertram disappeared with a scream. Dirty-Pirate McGee was taken a second later. Alone now, Andy and I gave one last desperate push on the car, just as the Zombies' glowing eyes were rising over the windshield. The car rolled back onto the road and we jumped in. Andy floored the accelerator and we plowed through the surrounding horde to freedom, and didn't slow until we returned safely to camp.
The End.

(But seriously, would you have otherwise read a post about us sliding off the road coming back from pizza?)

Fruit Carving

This week we have a midweek group in: the Mount Hermon staff retreat.  We've been serving them tantalizing dishes such as juicy prime rib, apple stuffed pork loin, the Hume Lake famous baked oatmeal, and roasted garlic-herb vegetables, all served with amazing presentation.  This afternoon I put together the carving boards for the pork and had a little fun with the garnish, as shown below.  And with great pride I am pleased to announce that I still have all 10 fingers wholly intact!

I'll bet you've never grown one of these flowers in your garden!

This gives new meaning to the term "fruit basket"!
